What you'll need

  • Coffee
  • Grinder
  • Hot Water (about 94-95 degrees)
  • Scale
  • Aeropress
  • Aeropress Filter
  • Stir Stick
  • Timer
  • Jug

The Aeropress is quickly becoming everyone’s favourite kitchen toy – an immersion brew that uses pressure to push coffee through a paper or metal filter to give a full bodied but more balanced cup.

Method

1. Insert the paper filter into the removable Aeropress cap

2. Weigh out 16 grams of delicious coffee beans

3. Pre-wet the filter

4. Grind the coffee to a medium fine coarseness – think ‘sand’…

5. Pour in the ground coffee

6. In 30 seconds, pour 250g of hot water into the Aeropress, making sure to wet all the grounds

7. After the 30 seconds stir the coffee three times, in a North to South motion

8. In another 30 seconds, depress the Aeropress plunger gently but firmly to the bottom. When you hear a slight ‘hiss’ sound, stop plunging.
